CKs Bakery Experience | Bangalore

Paneer Puff, Chicken Puff, Chicken Sausage Roll

Well, it’s been some time hasn’t it?

Nowadays it’s all about micro blogging & the traditional blogging has taken a hit!

This time we’re back with something which spans across 2 different cities. If you’ve ever been to Chennai you’ve probably tasted their baked goods as this post is dedicated to CKs Bakery & their launch in the city of Bangalore.

CKs bakery has numerous outlets throughout Chennai & now they’ve decided to enter the competitive market of Bangalore. The parent company is Cavin Kare Pvt. Ltd. Which is famous for its milk shakes & other products. CKs bakery has a number of specialties which we’ll be talking about in this post. They are also present in the cities of Hyderabad, Cochin, Trichy & Madurai.

They’ve opened 3 outlets in Bangalore, 2 of which are in Electronic city & Banaswadi. We visited the former & we are delighted with the experience. Starting with the location, their store is located near Velankani in Electronic city phase 1 & is pretty noticeable. The store might not be big on size, but it definitely has other qualities which makes up for it.

CKs bakery is famous for its Paninis, sandwiches, wraps & pocket friendly confectionary items & why wouldn’t they be? We tried it, & we loved each & every one of them.
We tried the Chicken Puff, Paneer Puff, Chicken Sausage Roll, Butter Chicken Panini, Chicken Tikka Wrap for baked goodies & the Black Forest, Butterscotch & Choco Truffle pastries.

We even tried their classic Vanilla Milkshake & boy that’s a delight! It goes very well with their handmade Coconut cookies.

We’ll keep this short & sweet as we had promised before. Starting with the highlights:

Darker: Chicken Samosa Lighter: Veg Samosa

Butter Chicken Panini

Black Forest, Butterscotch & Choco Truffle Pastries

All of their items are super pocket friendly. They are high on quality, taste & very reasonable on the pricing. All the confectionery items were brilliantly made & delicious. They re-kindled childhood memories to be honest. The Panini bread has a crunch to it & the creamy butter chicken stuffing does wonders. All of their puffs have ample amount of filling & they are good enough to clean your plate.

The cakes/pastries have distinct flavors & have 60% less crème than other pastries that we’ve had. It actually has more cake & that’s what we’ve had growing up. We’ll just say that we loved it. The rest of the feeling cannot be conveyed but only replicated.

What’s more? It actually takes them 10 minutes to deliver cakes to customers when they order one at their store. Seriously, 10 minutes! There is a see through cabin where the cake is prepared fresh in front of the customer. Now, that develops serious customer trust.

A variety of offerings from CKs Bakery

They maintain proper hygiene & we must say that we’re going to visit them pretty often. The only feedback which we had for them is with their wraps. We feel that they can be made better, as they are a bit too thin & lack sufficient stuffing. Taste wise, no complaints.

That’s all from our side. The overall feedback would be that whatever they’re doing, they’re doing it right. In our short visit of about an hour we could see a good inflow of customers & that’s very good to see.

Do visit these guys to try out their offerings & let us know about your experience. From what we think, you’ll not be disappointed at all ;).

Till then—keep calm, have cake & bon apetit!

The Freshmenu Experience | Electronic City | Bangalore

Pan Fried Chilli Fish

Thanks to our busy lives and schedules we have all resorted to fast food at one point of time or the other. The recent start up revolution has brought many food tech start-ups to our rescue with a variety of cuisine and if we may say “healthier” food!

We have tried the offerings of several of these saviours except for one. So, this time we bring to you our experience of one of the fastest growing restaurants in the food delivery sector: Freshmenu!

These guys have saved many youngsters from starvation at pretty reasonable prices for quite some time.

Our experience was pretty extraordinary starting from the before time delivery to the mouth watering preparations. These guys have a daily changing menu, so if you like something you have tried, you have to wait for quite some time till it is repeated (if it is repeated!)

We had a mini feast which consisted of: BBQ chicken leg burger, Penne in Creamy Bechamel Sauce, Grilled Chimichurri Chicken, Roast Chicken Sandwich combo, Pan fried Chilli Fish, Oriental double fun platter for starters and mains. For desserts we had a white chocolate cake with passion fruit and a chocolate brownie.

A Mughlai Affair @ Paradise | Electronic city | Bangalore

We recently visited a legendary restaurant which originates from our very own land of the Nizam’s: Hyderabad!

This was an FBAB meet up and it was beautiful how there was one long table full of passionate food lovers who clicked pictures more than they ate.

The restaurant we are talking about (as you might have guess by now) is none other than Paradise. They have opened their new outlet in Electronic city in Velankani drive and foodies from all over Bangalore came to dig in!

They are currently operating on two floors with a parking section in the basement. Their ambiance is almost the same in all their outlets so nothing special to mention there, but it sure gives a royal effect to ones meal ;).

Coming down to the food: we tried a variety of starters, biriyani for the main course and for desserts: shahi tukra, gajar ka halwa and one more.

Wahrabia Festival @ Barbeque Nation | Bangalore

Wahrabia fest at Barbeque Nation
It must have occurred to all of us at one point of time that it is not only the food which fetches you points, but there is a lot more to it than that. Yesterday, we were at the Wahrabia festival at Barbeque Nation in Electronic city, Bangalore and there were certain things which proved why they are worthy of wearing the “King of BBQ” crown.

Their courteous staff, space management and the deliciously different festival menu deserve a lot of praise!  Moreover, the decoration which we thought was a theme based on The Arabian Nights and Aladdin was superbly implemented. On top of this, the soothing Arabic music which was being played is guaranteed to make your dining experience worth remembering and cherishing.

Samosa Singh Review | Electronic City| Bangalore

Nowadays is the age of start-ups where every other day, some new enterprise/ establishment is born. Some of these have clear and defined visions and some of these are just the strong dreams/will of the youth.

So, we recently tried out a “start-up” which is very unique and deserves a lot of praise.
There is one question we want to ask before we continue: Do you love Samosas?
If the answer to this question is yes, then you should definitely read on. If not, this write up can try to at least make you like it ;)

So, the Samosa joint which we are talking about is named Samosa Singh, and it has a very interesting logo as well. It is located in Neeladri Nagar, in electronic city phase 1.
But it is not the logo or the ambiance which wins the heart of their customers—it is the variety, taste and the value for money of their samosas!

Evolve | Electronic city | Bangalore

Healthy food is not something both of us have in mind when we go out to eat, although I have been going on and on about losing some weight and getting in shape, my love for “unhealthy” food is not letting me start with it! But when we had an opportunity to try healthy food and that to in Electronic city, we were very happy!

There is a new place in Electronic city and it is Called “Evolve” and this is the place where you can find the healthiest food in the area! Situated right beside My cousin’s place on Velankani Drive.

Their motto is providing healthy food options to the calorie conscious crowd. But of course, they have some “unhealthy” options like biriyani etc for people like Rudra and me! They have opened around 2 months back and still in the setting up phase. Let’s put the spotlight on the food we tasted now.

We tried Strawberry smoothie, Chicken Club Sandwich, Chicken burger, Tawa fish, Cheesy pasta with Chicken topping and gulab jamun.

Strawberry smoothie was a delight to have. Smoothies are something very difficult to find, especially in this part of Bangalore. With chunks of fresh strawberry and right amount of sweetness this was great to taste. This is done with milk, in case you want a yogurt smoothie, and they have that available as well.

Chicken Club Sandwich, this tasted good, but if I had to consider having egg sandwich. I didn’t get any chicken and Rudra found one or two pieces of chicken. This is accompanied with French fries. The fries were done nicely but the sandwich sadly lacked the flavour of chicken, since it is was a chicken sandwich.

Pot Biriyani, Electronic City | Review

Pot Biriyani, Electronic City | Review
I have to say that, I hate the food I get in my office cafeteria, and there are only a few people who would say that they like the food here.  And the biggest problem is that the food gets over within 2 pm and I am a person who like a little late lunch. So, last week something of the sort where the “good” food got over happened, and I had to go out in search of food! (I think I just thought of myself as a cave man!)
There are a few restaurants around my office but I had tried almost all of them out and I wanted to eat something from another restaurant.

Meeteaing Review | Electronic city | Bangalore

Meeteaing Review | Electronic city | Bangalore
Pancakes with chocolate spread and maple syrup +Meeteaing

Conventionally, it was known to most of us that there are coffee parlours, ice cream parlours and of course kebab joints and what not! But it is quite recent that tea joints/parlours came into the picture (except for the roadside ones of course :P).

Tea is one of the oldest and the most traditional household beverage which was forgotten until the advent of establishments solely dedicated to varieties of tea.
We found a place which is dedicated to serving tea quite a while back, but it was recently that we finally crashed in to try some great variety of tea. The name of the establishment is Meeteaing, and it is located in Neeladri nagar, Electronic city Phase 1.

Moriz restaurant, electronic city review

Rocky and Mayur have ventured out to explore food from all parts of India and curate videos on Askme.com.  I'm contributing my part by relishing my favorite dishes at Moriz restaurant and sharing my views with you all!

You can also upload your video review on AskMe   and stand a chance to meet Rocky and Mayur.
Normally, while going out to dine we have some sort of an idea in our mind especially the type of cuisine we are in the mood for. Yesterday was Friday night, so we decided to go out and eat somewhere just to celebrate the upcoming weekend. We were searching for a restaurant, where we did not eat before.

Spicy Grill Chicken Kababs | Street Food

So, here we are with the street food series of The Foodie Land Blog. And we are starting with our latest find, A kabab joint in Electronic City situated near Wipro Campus and exactly opposite Concorde Manhattan apartments.

The street food reviews will be short and sweet!

This joint offers only chicken kababs prepared in a Andhra style. Spicy and smoky is how I would like to sum up the taste of kababs.
The kababs are made to order, six pieces of chicken at just 30 INR!

You will have to wait for sometime, while the person( will get the name from next time) prepares the chicken on smoking coals!
The Smoke lends such an awesome flavour to the spicy kababs and that is something worth trying!

I would say that you should totally check out this joint because there are very few kabab joints here in electronic city where you get freshly prepared kababs!

Do let us know if you know some great food joints in and around Bangalore! We would love to check those out !

Till next time! Bon apetit !

Beijing Bites Review, Electronic City outlet

Chinese and Thai cuisines that are available in India are somewhat different and Indian-ised versions of the original dishes. And that somehow seems to works very well for us, because from what I have noticed I can say that Chinese “Fast Food” is the second most popular fast food or meal, obviously after our respective regional favourites ! (It might be different in your case :P)

Last week, we went to the nearest Beijing Bites from where we stay, in Electronic city. This outlet is a fully fledged restaurant, not the usual tiny outlet in a food court of a mall.
But I have to say this beforehand that I did not like the ambiance much, it was okay.
Décor was basic and something I would not be very happy to see , but I can say it was okay.

We went for dinner, around 9 at night and the place was full so we had to wait for around 10 minutes and then we got a place. We had ordered while waiting so we were expecting a quick service. But, the people ordering after us were getting their food before us. Maybe it was our choice of unconventional dishes, but the service time was around 40 minutes.

Beijing Bites Review, Electronic City outlet

We ordered Dragon rolls with Garlic sauce for starters. This was served quickly. On the menu you will see that this is spicy, but I did not find it to be spicy at all. The taste was good of the rolls.

The rolls were basically fried dumplings filled with minced chicken. The garlic sauce was very lightly flavoured , almost bland.

Next, came in our main course order –
Khao phad Kapde  , Mixed Nonveg Koithio, Honey hunan Chicken and Fish in oyster sauce. The quantity was sufficient for three people and two of us are large eaters anyway.

I really liked khao phad kapde, this is a Thai rice and is full of flavours. You will like this if you like strongly flavoured rice. Love the fact that this was really moist and full of seafood.

I didn’t know what Koithio was before I ordered and I was very happy to get what I didn’t expect.

I love flat noodles and Koithio is Flat noodles. This tastes okay and has an odd combination of sauces.
Lightly flavoured with lots of vegetable, this is something I would like to eat when I am looking for something light to eat. My only disappointment with this was that this was served to us cold.
I DO NOT like cold food.

Honey Hunan Chicken, sweet and savoury. Loved it! The chicken tasted really good as they were fried strips which soaked the gravy nicely. This is all sauce, no distinct flavour. But it is something you would like if you like light Chinese flavours. As, far as honey is considered , I didn’t get any distinct flavour of honey.

Fish in Oyster Sauce – Light and savoury, not spicy at all. I loved the soft cubes of fish. I have to say they were cooked to perfection.

So, to sum up I can say that apart from the service and ambiance, I like the food and pricing very much. Because, all these summed up to less that 1000 INR , which is pretty reasonable given the quantity. But, that is it.

I would go back there because they had some more interesting things on the menu which I would like to taste and will definitely update you about it.

Till then let’s see how I liked Beijing Bites-
Food- 3.25/5
Ambiance – 2.5/5 (They played only Himesh Reshamiya’s Songs!)
Service – 2.5/5
Cleanliness – 4/5
Value for money – 3.75/5

Faasos Review | Electronic City outlet and home delivery

Faaso's Review | Electronic City outlet and home delivery

In our busy day to day lives, it is often not possible to go to different places and eat. So, we have foodpanda, tiny owl and other saviours which have come to our aid.
One such saviour is a food chain called Faasos. Earlier we used to order online or through the mobile app. One day we decided to give the dine-in facility a try!

The nearest outlet of Faasos is at electronic city near Lords Plaza. I did use the mobile app to order before hand so that we get the food as soon as we enter. I ordered a non vegetarian wrap combo, which consists of three non veg wraps. The best thing about ordering through the app is that one can customize which wraps are to be included in the combo.

Thalasserry restaurant | Electronic City | Review

Today I went to a restaurant which is quite near to the place I live, with two of my friends. It goes by the name "Thalassery" and it is located in Bangalore, Electronic City, Phase 1 just opposite to Uniworld India. From the name I could decipher that it mostly features Kerala cuisine but after checking out the menu from Zomato, I thought we could give it a shot.
