Flow and prosper menu at Yauatcha, Bangalore

Yauatcha has been one of our most favorite restaurants. And we have quite possibly made it clear to all our readers, with the amount of posts about the restaurant! Yauatcha Bangalore recently invited me over to try out their new offering, The Flow and Prosper Menu!

This is a selection curated by them! Taking a cue from two of China’s Luckiest Numbers, six meaning ‘flow’, and eight meaning ‘prosper’, The Flow and prosper menu features six cocktails and eight varieties of dim sum. And During weekdays from Monday through Friday this menu is available. From 3pm until 11 pm, at the bar and high tops, at Yauatcha, Bengaluru, 1 MG Road, Lido mall.

Now, let me take you through the selections and what I ate/drank from these! Most of the items on the curated menu were my personal favorites, and being a regular at Yauatcha, I had tried everything once before apart from a couple things. And, everything on this menu is priced at 400 INR plus taxes.  This is great!

Let me first tell you about the drinks.

The Lam Peak martini is one of my favorites their and like always I ended the night with this one. Started the night with a Ginger Martini. A perfect zing of ginger to start the meal
Next I had the Pork Char Sui buns, these fluffy balls filled with pork filling is always my favorite. The prawn hargau was next. And, like always, was delicate yet the most delightful thing to eat. Next I had the prawns with pumpkin sauce.

Yeah, pumpkin. Believe me, this is one of the most delicious dishes Yauatcha has to offer! Next I had the pork and prawn sui mai. I am not a very big fan of this, but I wanted to try the sui mai.

Next, along with a repeat of drinks, I had the Stir fried mushrooms and the krispy konjee lamb. The konjee lamb is a must have with drink, without a doubt!

One of the best things I have had at Yautacha till date is the Mushroom and black truffle rolls! A beautiful combination of the mushrooms with the sharp yet magnificent taste of black truffles! A definite must have from the menu.

The crispy veg roll is the vegetarian option for all those who miss out on the delicious non vegetarian food. A must have for all the vegetarian dimsum lovers.

They have a lot more options to chose from in case of the drinks, than I have tried. I love their cocktails, so I am sure the other drinks will be great too!

Do dine at Yauatcha, Bangalore and try the flow and prosper menu! Because at the price point, this menu is not to be missed.

Until next time,
Bon appetite !

One Bowl Winter Menu at Monkey Bar

Ever felt like monkeying around?
We sure feel like it!
We’ve covered a variety of food festivals before & this time we’re going to talk about meal bowls.

This post is all about our recent experience at the Monkey Bar, Indiranagar, Bangalore.
We’ve been in the same building many times before (to Fatty Bao) so no surprise for us. This time we’re going to talk about the ongoing “One Bowl Winter” festival at the Monkey Bar across all its outlets in Bangalore, Kolkata, Delhi & Mumbai.
This is an ongoing festival which is on for about a month & a half more.

The best part about meal bowls is that everything comes at one shot so you don’t have to worry much about quantity & sides.
Without further ado, we’ll let you know which ones we tried & which ones we want to keep on trying!

Must tries: Panch Phoron & Kasundi Maach, Chicken Xacuti, Korean Bibimpap & the Kashmiri Yakhni.

Mutton Yakhni

The Chicken Xacuti
We also tried the Nagarjuna Inspired Chilli Chicken & the Sesame Teriyaki Chicken Bowl which are definitely worth a shot but not as good as the above. The former was a spicy chicken preparation served with parathas whereas the latter is the usual Grilled Chicken in Teriyaki sauce.

We later realized that we had missed out on the seafood bowls, which we were really looking forward to!
First up, if you love fish, you have to try the Kasundi Maach. The fish used is Surmai (clearly written in the menu). They use fresh & well layered fish for the prep. The aroma of the Gobindobhog rice & the zing of the kasundi is always a magical affair. For a Bengali, this is a must try!

The Xacuti was brilliant. The goan spices with the tender boneless chicken tasted heavenly. Moreover, the millets tasted really good & went well with the spicy gravy. We had millets for the first time so either millets have a distinct aroma or they used Ghee in the preparation.

One Bowl Winter Menu at Monkey Bar, Bibimbap

Now for the 2 best bowls: The Bibimpap & the Yakhni.

The latter had succulent chunks of mutton in yoghurt based gravy. It comes with a serving of saffron rice & the combined aroma is overwhelming. This is a mildly spicy preparation. The Bibimpap is a popular Korean preparation with shredded beef. The beef in this case was simply irresistible. The sauce was lip smacking. This is served with sticky rice, greens, mushrooms & a fried egg.

Although it doesn’t seem much, the bowls are pretty heavy on the stomach.
For dessert, we tried some Churros, Nutella cake with ice cream & a preparation with molten chocolate & caramel popcorn. This was a full-fledged Choco-indulgence!

The Nutella cake is just amazing. The sweetness if perfect & of course: Nutella. The popcorn concept was pretty neat & worked out extremely well.

That’s all from our side!

This special menu is on for quite some time so don’t miss out. The preparations mentioned are truly mouth-watering. There are others which we couldn’t try so feel free to try them out & let us know how you feel.

We’ll be back soon with another foodscapade ;)

Till then—think about your taste buds & bon apetit!

Valentines Day Special @ Vivanta by Taj - Yeshwantpur | Bangalore

Valentines Day Special @ Vivanta by Taj - Yeshwantpur | Bangalore

It has been a while that we posted something related to luxury dining and we missed bringing them over to you apart from missing the food as in almost all cases the food makes us go crazy.

We have visited many Taj properties in the past and we were pretty sure that we have been to all of them (In Bangalore). Unfortunately, we were wrong and this time our visit to the Vivanta by Taj- Yeshwantpur for a preview of their special Valentine’s Day arrangements.

So, for those who want to make it special on the upcoming 14th of Feb, here’s what you can expect if you decide to celebrate this special day of love at this luxurious property:

A fabulous selection of food which look & taste delightful & a lot of hearts!

They have a special A.I package (INR 5999) for couples on the big day and they have appropriate plans to make the couples fall in love all over again: heart shaped chocolates, balloons, strawberries dipped in chocolate and much more.

So from the food point of view, here are our views:

So what cuisine are you guys in the mood for?

We know that we have been craving for Italian food for quite some time and finally we received the chance to fulfil our craving! We have recently been to the ongoing Italian Food Festival at Sphyre, The Gateway Hotel-Residency road, Bangalore. So, are you guys ready to take your taste buds on an Italian trip?

Whatever your answer is, do read on ;)

We have been to this property before and although it is not huge, it has a separate charm of its own.

For the current festival, their Sous Chef Tushar prepared some extraordinary authentic Italian delights. It was indeed a pleasure being a part of this as the food was of a different level altogether.

So, coming down to the food:

The menu is very elaborate and so we tasted bits and parts as recommended and served by Chef Tushar.

First up, we were served the Minestrone and Lentil soups and both the soups were super appetizing. The best part was that all the flavours were individually distinguishable. The consistency was perfect, with fresh ingredients and a touch of herbs!

Aranchini @Glimpses of Italy @ Sphyre | The Gateway Hotel-Residency Road | Bangalore

Then we tried the Aranchini and the Fried Calamari. The Aranchini had a good bite to it and the cheesy Arborio rice was well balanced and delicious. The fried calamari was crisp fried with a uniform colour. The calamari was well cooked, slightly chewy and this was a perfect snack.

Next up, the pasta: Tortellini Chicken in Tomato Sauce and the Penne a la norma.

The tortellini was excellently made: the shape, the minced chicken stuffing with cheese and herbs and of course the sauce! Be it garnishing, the consistency of the sauce or anything else it was absolutely perfect.

The Penne a la norma was as expected. The pasta was Indian al dente and it was a good dish overall.

The Pumpkin Risotto deserves praise! The Arborio rice was perfectly done and the creaminess of the pumpkins was absolutely delightful. The combo is definitely something to relish.

We tried two pizzas: spinach and eggs for non-veg and mushroom and olive for veg.

Both the pizzas had a thin crust with loads of Mozzarella. They were not overloaded with cheese and toppings as originally that is not the purpose. The toppings were generous and both the pizzas stood out. The eggs served in the pizza were sunny side up and it was great to see and to eat!

The mushroom and olives is a tried and tested combination and tasted the usual.
After this we tried the Grilled Salmon with Traditional orange sauce and the desserts.

The salmon was fresh and grilled to perfection. The sauce was slightly sweet and acted as a perfect palate cleanser before dessert. The orange sauce was absolutely lip smacking and added a citrusy zest to each bite. This dish is definitely a must try!

We forgot the name: It had layers of Aubergine and parmesan

Gnocchi in Blue Cheese Sauce@ Glimpses of Italy @ Sphyre | The Gateway Hotel-Residency Road | Bangalore

For dessert we had the Tiramisu and the Ricotta Cheese cake. The Tiramisu had a delicate touch of coffee, as expected. The best part was that no flavour was overpowering. The sweetness, layering and the taste was perfect.

The Cheese Cake looked like a thick slice of pizza but was soft. It was mildly sweet and had a creamy finish.

We finished our Italian meal on a happy note.

Apart from the above mentioned items, we were also served a gnocchi with blue cheese which was out of which world! It was super creamy and melted in our mouths. The blue cheese sauce was indescribably amazing!

So that’s all from our side folks!

The festival runs till the 15th of this month so if you love Italian food, this festival is a must try!

Do let us know about your experience in case you visit.

We’ll be back soon with our tasty adventures ;)

Till then—stay tuned and bon apetit!

The Bengali Food Festival @ M Café | The Marriott Whitefield | Bangalore

Shubho Bijoya!

Last year roundabout this time we gave a couple of posts and labelled them as Durga Puja and Diwali specials. This time however, there was no such post fitting the occasion. But history does repeat itself and we had the privilege of visiting The Marriott, Whitefield and this time for their Bengali Food Festival.

So, this post is dedicated to all the Bengali people in the house and in general for everyone in love with Bengali Cuisine.

The Bengali Food Festival @ M Café | The Marriott Whitefield | Bangalore
Bengali style puja mandap at the entrance of M Café

Their caption is exceptionally catchy and it goes by: There is a little bit of Bengal in “Bengaluru”.

This festival is taking place at the open air dining space at The M Café.

The setup is quite nostalgic for people like us who have migrated to other cities for their jobs. It was a heart-warming gesture from their side. Enough with the sentiments: we can always catch a flight and go back home so here comes a short and sweet version of what this festival has to offer.

If you are not familiar with Bengali cuisine, then just have faith and eat whatever you feel is good and you will not be disappointed.

The Mangalorean Food Festival | Jamavar- The Leela Palace | Bangalore

Luxury dining is something which we would like to call an acquired taste. In the recent past, we have had our share of luxury and fine dining and at first it did not seem so special. However, with repeated encounters one can realize the true beauty of the experience. Although luxury comes at a price, it is something to indulge in because we do need to pamper ourselves after the hard work we do!

On the same page, we recently visited The Leela Palace, Bangalore situated in Old Airport road for their Mangalore Food Festival and the property is majestic. It is not surprising if someone is awestruck by the grandeur of the interiors and especially in and around their Indian specialty restaurant, Jamavar. This festival is running at Jamavar from the 12th of September to the 21st.

They have miniature rocky waterfalls with greenery everywhere. Jamavar has indoor as well as outdoor seating. The indoors give you a regal feeling whereas the outdoors are breezy with picturesque surroundings.

Now coming down to the food:

The August Moon Festival | Memories of China | Vivanta by Taj-M.G Road | Bangalore

Have you guys ever heard of something called the August Moon Festival?

Whatever your answer is, do read on as we got to know about it recently and celebrated this auspicious event at none other than Memories of China, Vivanta by Taj—M.G Road, Bangalore. This festival is regarded as the second grandest festival in China and is also known as the mid-autumn festival.

It is called the August Moon Festival because at this time of the year the moon is at its brightest and roundest. The festival is associated with family engagement, traditional Chinese food and moon cakes.

They have a special menu for this festival and it kicked off from the 1st of September. The menu has a great balance between Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian items but does not have any desserts. So, if you have a dessert craving then the main menu will come to your rescue.

We tried almost the entire menu, but we will be talking about the highlights only. As the preparations are Authentic Chinese, there are chances that some might not be palate friendly.

Stir fried water chestnut, lotus stem and potatoes in chef special sauce

Steamed eggplant in spicy peanut sauce

cauliflower in a creamy sauce with preserved chilli

We normally try non veg more, but this time we will be talking about veg too!
