Kadu | Our new additon on the wine list

As you might not know, Priyanjana is a bit of a wine lover {read: wine addict } and we love trying out wines from different brands, both Indian and International.

And if the wine is coming out of the state where we stay, then how can we pass that down,So we recently tried out all of the wines they have to offer and we were not dissapointed.I will let you read about them and then tell you which is my favorite from what they have to offer.

KĀDU (pronounced Kaa-du) is the first premium wine offering from the Karnataka vineyards of Sula Vineyards, India’s leading wine producer.

Kādu, meaning “wild” in Kannada, is India’s first “Wine for a Cause”. The beautiful label, handiwork of renowned label designer Simon Frouws, depicts a tiger in all its glory in the wild jungle.

Karnataka is home to the most wild tigers on the planet in its many reserves. But the majestic beast - India’s national animal - is endangered, with its habitat under threat.
Sula has decided to take up the cause of the magnificent tiger with Kādu, India’s first “wine for a cause”. With each bottle of Kādu sold, Sula will contribute to tiger conservation within Karnataka. To ensure the optimum end-use of the funds contributed, Sula is collaborating with Mud on Boots, the pioneering initiative by the Sanctuary foundation.

Bittu Sahgal, legendary conservationist, founder of Sanctuary and Sula founder, CEO Rajeev Samant launched Kādu in Bengaluru on 6th November 2017.
Kādu is Sula’s homage to Karnataka as one of India’s most important wine regions. Kādu is the fruit of Sula’s efforts to bring the best from Karnataka’s terroir to your glass.
Four delicious Kādu wines will be available initially:

Ø  Kādu Chenin Blanc – is delicious, slightly sweet, floral and fruity
Ø  Kādu Sauvignon Blanc – has delicate aromas and flavours of passion fruit, cut grass and green peppers
Ø  Kādu Shiraz Rose – is light, fruity and full of luscious berry flavours
Ø  Kādu Cabernet Shiraz – is lush, medium bodied and peppery with subtle oak
Winemaker Gorakh Gaikwad has crafted Kādu from the choicest premium Karnataka wine grapes to produce this wonderful “Wine for a cause”!

Come help Save the tiger, one sip at a time!

So, time to let you know my choice,  The Shiraz Rose is what we loved the most. Rose is a very misjudged wine, but I really like the crisp and the deep notes it hits, at the same time! And the rose from Kadu definitely didn't disappoint!

I would urge you to try these wines out and see for yourself!

Hallo-Wine Festival at Phoenix Market City, Bangalore!

It has been quite some time since we wrote about an event on the blog! With Rudra Moving to Chennai, I will be writing most of the blog, about events, tastings in Bangalore. So, here goes the first event blog in a long while.
On a Breezy Saturday afternoon, I reached Phoenix Market City. Just a day prior to Halloween, and saw their courtyard dotted with various stalls! They had a Festival going on, a three day long festival, called Halo-wine. Though I love wine, I had decided not to drink during the day time, so I didn’t really indulge myself with copious amount of fabulous wines which were available.

I did that with food, anyway! The event was organized by Phoenix Market city in association with the Karnataka Wine Board and a lot of Karnataka based wine brands participated in the event.
Some of my Favorite wine brands were present too. Like, Big Banyan and Sula. And, everyone had the opportunity to sample all the wines for just a nominal amount of money.
But, the food was wonderful! They had multiple food trucks and stalls from Bar Bar and Café Noir. I tried some delish food from Bar Bar and the food trucks.

Mushroom satay

Paneer Roll

Chicken Shami kabab

I tried almost everything from Bar Bar and some things from the food trucks, while enjoying the live music! There was an option of grape stomping as well! I didn’t participate, but a lot of people did and it looked like fun!

I hope I visit a lot of festivals such as this, because good food, good wine and lovely music makes anyone’s day brighter, and certainly mine too!

Till next time,
Bon Appetite!
