It’s time for another food festival & this time it’s our festival!

As you might know that we are Bengalis so, we are super excited to talk about the ongoing Bengali Food Festival at Nook, Aloft Cessna Business Park, Bangalore.

We have been to many festivals at Nook, but by far we found this to be the best! No bias at all as the food is what impressed us. The execution was brilliant and most of the items tasted as they should while some had a certain twist to it.

We were not disappointed with a single item to be honest.

Now, coming down to the food:

They have the festival menu & also the regular spread for customers who don’t want to try festival items.

About the festival menu: the spread is absolutely massive! There were almost equal options for veg & non veg. For veg, from Aloo Bhate, Kumror Chhechki to Begun Bharta & Aloo/Jhinge Posto there was a wide variety. For non-veg: starting with kebabs, Bangladeshi Mutton Kofta, Egg Chops to Ilish Bhaja, Ilish Bhapa, Mutton Dak Bungalow, Murghir Jhol & Daab Chingri & more! Now that’s enough to make a Bengali happy for sure. The food was exquisite & lip smacking. We loved each & every preparation.

Before we forget, they also have Mutton Shingara & Veg Shingara & Fuchka!

The Daab Chingri was partially cooked in the green coconut which most places don’t do. There was also Chicken Mughlai Paratha which was also the real deal.

So, from our side we would recommend everything but if we have to filter out:

Veg: Aloo Posto, Aloo & Coconut Tikkis, Begun Bharta & Chholar Dal.

Non Veg: Daab Chingri, Mutton Dak Bungalow, Egg Chops, Bhapa Ilish, Mughlai Paratha.

That’s not all: Bengalis are known for their sweet tooth so the desserts this time were epic. Apart from the regular variations like pastries, cheesecakes etc. there was Nolengur Payesh, Kancha Golla, Raj Bhog, Patishapta, Malai Chomchom & Roshogolla. No recommendations as all of them were delightful.

If you’re familiar with Bengali Cuisine, you shouldn’t miss this for sure! If you aren’t, do give this a try as most of the preps are pretty close to authentic & taste exactly the way it should.

Reiterating: This is the best festival we’ve experienced.

Kudos to Exec Chef Sandeep & his team for making us feel closer to home!

The festival is on, so don’t miss it.

We’ll be back soon with another tasty adventure soon.

Till then—Keep Calm & live to eat!

Shubho Bijoya!

Last year roundabout this time we gave a couple of posts and labelled them as Durga Puja and Diwali specials. This time however, there was no such post fitting the occasion. But history does repeat itself and we had the privilege of visiting The Marriott, Whitefield and this time for their Bengali Food Festival.

So, this post is dedicated to all the Bengali people in the house and in general for everyone in love with Bengali Cuisine.

Their caption is exceptionally catchy and it goes by: There is a little bit of Bengal in “Bengaluru”.

This festival is taking place at the open air dining space at The M Café.

The setup is quite nostalgic for people like us who have migrated to other cities for their jobs. It was a heart-warming gesture from their side. Enough with the sentiments: we can always catch a flight and go back home so here comes a short and sweet version of what this festival has to offer.

If you are not familiar with Bengali cuisine, then just have faith and eat whatever you feel is good and you will not be disappointed.

Normally, we head out into the sun and attack random establishments but this time it was a different scenario.  We were back home after quite some time and we wanted to try out a very well known restaurant which we didn’t try before.

This review is one of the “Durga Puja Specials” and the name of the restaurant is Jhaal Farezi located in Circus Avenue, Beckbagan in the Park Circus area. We were really looking forward to this experience due to the well known punch the food here packs.

The restaurant looks like a big old house, which is gorgeously renovated and it has several sections for different dining experiences. The place of entry has a courtyard with wooden dining tables with umbrellas for dining out and a bar which is made out of stone! The place of entry is similar to that of a royal mansion and we were escorted to the first floor to start proceedings ;)

The decor was quite fun, elegant and vintage! There were 3 rooms on the first floor and in each room there were portraits: each of different story line ups and they were rather interesting. The seating arrangements were very comfortable but the table space was a bit cramped. Old candles in the corners, high ceilings and beautiful chandeliers added the extra spice!

Now coming down to the lip smacking 4 course meal:
