Chicken Conpati

Do you believe that simple things can be re-done differently & end up giving you a refreshing splash?

If you do, then you belong in our league!

If you’ve read through other posts in our blog, you’ll know that we talk about our responsibility of visiting new places to eat & this is one such instance.

Fusion food is generally something chefs experiment with during “food festivals” but rarely do you find eateries with the courage to focus solely on fusion food.

Unveiling the curtains now: We recently visited a café named Stuffd in Old Airport road, Indiranagar Bangalore which specializes in fusion food.

Stuffd serves a small variety of items at the moment as they’ve recently opened but they’re soon planning to expand their menu. These are the list of items you can gorge on if you visit them: Gol Gappas with fillings, variety of food bowls, Toastizzas & lastly our favorite, the Conpati or chapatti cones with fillings.

For drinks, they serve flavored Lassi & cold beverages ranging from cold coffees to floats.
We visited on a cloudy weekend evening & ended up having a great time! They only have outdoor seating so you can feel the wind in your hair.

So, here’s what we tried:

Alfredo Mac Gol gappas, Cold Coffee, Kiwi Float, Noodle Rasam Bowl, Arrabiata Mac Bowl, Mexican Corn Toastizza & lastly, the Chicken Chapati Cone.

First up, their gol gappas are refreshingly different. They serve the Alfredo Mac filling inside & topped off with a black olive. They serve the sauce separately in a shot glass. So, either you fill it up first or have it separately.

The beverages were both very refreshing. The cold coffee especially was exactly the way it should be: dominant flavor of coffee, chilled & mildly sweet.

The noodle rasam bowl was one of a find. Well done noodles in a bowl of rasam & served with a masala papad. Hard to say, but we actually liked it!

The Arrabiata was lip smacking, but a little bit more tanginess from the tomatoes would’ve done wonders.

The Toastizza was perfect in terms of quantity & there’s not much you can go wrong with. The bread could’ve been crispier for a solid crunch. It had generous amounts of paprika, corn & cheese. All it needed was a bit more crunch & that’d be it!

Lastly, the chicken chapati cone was simply a meaty treat. It had loads of chicken & the balance between sauces & spices was perfect.

Overall, their items are very simple & that’s the trick. We often forget that the simple things can give us the most amount of joy & fool us at the same time.

Stuffd works on a customer centric model & they tweak their menu based on customer preference & feedback. They’re planning on opening other outlets across the city of Bangalore.

Their pricing is reasonable, pocket friendly & definitely VFM.

We’ll be revisiting them soon & post about our experience to let you guys know about what’s new & happening.

Till then—always try experimenting a bit with your palette/food & bon apetit!

A beau"Tea"ful Experience | Tea Trails Cafe | Koramangala | Bangalore

Grilled Chicken Steak Platter

Here is a call to all the tea lovers out there! All of us love to drink tea. Initially we were not much into tea but gradually the aroma, health benefits and the rejuvenation hooked us onto it.

We have all indulged in and heard about the “drinking” part of tea, but we were amazed to discover that tea can also mixed in food items and it imparts a unique flavour. We have recently been to a place called The Tea Trails Cafe which opened in Koramangala 7th block, Bangalore and these guys have done their homework when it comes to tea. They offer unique and various blends of tea and that’s just half the show: They also pair it with food items which go well with that variety of tea and we experienced magic in our mouths for most of the combinations. Plus, their specialty is having tea as an ingredient in their food preparations.

Their ambiance is classy, comfortable and modern. Apart from this, their presentation is also impressive. They serve their tea in special brewers which provides more surface area for brewing and they also provide a card along with the type of tea which contains detailed information about the temperature, time duration for brewing and also health benefits!

Now coming down to the varieties we tried and the food pairings:

New Menu @ Au Bon Pain | Bangalore

There are a large number of cafes in Bangalore city and in all of India for that matter, out of which most of them have sprung up in the past 1-2 years.

We quite recently visited a renowned cafe, for trying out a few additions they made in their menu and most of these additions are definitely worth a try!

Without further ado, the cafe we visited is none other than Au Bon Pain, which is spread out all across the country now and because of their quality products they are very well known. This outlet is situated in CMH road, Bangalore and the locality has a lot of energy in the air.

Not much to mention about the ambiance because all the outlets have the same decor. The decor is quite classy though and not at all loud. Their staff is very courteous and to be honest the cleanliness of this store in particular is quite appealing.

Coming down to the new items: They have launched a few items called cone-wich, a chicken keema kouign-amann, banana walnut muffin, crème and mango custard Danish, raspberry crème croisbun, croi-mosa, a bagel poha sandwich, cinnamon buns and a few coolers for the summer.

We found the chicken keema preparation to be the best undoubtedly! It looks more like a quiche, but with a puffed head. The head is covered with herbs and a big bite with the herbs and the spicy keema tasted phenomenal! It is quite spongy as well, but slightly oily.

The croi-mosa was very interesting. It is basically a fusion of a croissant and a samosa and they really did a good job! The stuffing was very fragrant, balanced and tasty. The whole thing looks sort of like a croissant but has a crunch like a samosa.

The cone-wich has many variants: one chicken, a mushroom and eggplant and a tandoori paneer variant. We tried the last one and it was a different experience to be honest. The item is served in a cup and the advantage of this cone design is that the stuffing runs deep and you get the real deal till the end. Taste wise, it was a bit too tangy for comfort. It was pretty overpowering and the taste of the paneer was masked. The sweet corns were a good addition though.

The banana walnut muffin was fantastic! It was soft and spongy with the essence of banana throughout and few chunks of walnut deep within. We really liked this one and this is highly recommended.

Both the Danish were pretty similar except for the layers on top. They were flat shaped and very spongy. We liked the crème custard one more as its flavour was more distinguishable.

The raspberry croisbun was a decent addition but it could have been made better. The raspberry jam on top was the only flavour you will get while biting through. If they added something more inside it could have tasted better. The cinnamon buns were small but packed a punch. The sweetness was well balanced and the flavour was not overpowering.

The poha bagel combo was kind of funny but taste wise quite impressive. The presentation was very good and on top of that, the poha was very flavoursome. The bagels were thin, crunchy and had a cheese coating.

Now for the main attraction in the summers: the coolers! They introduced many variants including the banana yoghurt cooler and the papaya orange cooler.

We tried the papaya orange cooler and it was very refreshing. The flavours were distinguishable and well balanced.

We also tried the frozen mint cooler which is the “old is gold” type. It was even more refreshing!

The new additions are definitely impressive and have a great variety. They are handpicked to cater to the palate of a wide variety of people.

Hope this post helps out a fellow foodie in need!

Hope this menu lasts, because we will definitely be trying some of the items again soon!

Till next time—bon appétit!

Evolve | Electronic city | Bangalore

Healthy food is not something both of us have in mind when we go out to eat, although I have been going on and on about losing some weight and getting in shape, my love for “unhealthy” food is not letting me start with it! But when we had an opportunity to try healthy food and that to in Electronic city, we were very happy!

There is a new place in Electronic city and it is Called “Evolve” and this is the place where you can find the healthiest food in the area! Situated right beside My cousin’s place on Velankani Drive.

Their motto is providing healthy food options to the calorie conscious crowd. But of course, they have some “unhealthy” options like biriyani etc for people like Rudra and me! They have opened around 2 months back and still in the setting up phase. Let’s put the spotlight on the food we tasted now.

We tried Strawberry smoothie, Chicken Club Sandwich, Chicken burger, Tawa fish, Cheesy pasta with Chicken topping and gulab jamun.

Strawberry smoothie was a delight to have. Smoothies are something very difficult to find, especially in this part of Bangalore. With chunks of fresh strawberry and right amount of sweetness this was great to taste. This is done with milk, in case you want a yogurt smoothie, and they have that available as well.

Chicken Club Sandwich, this tasted good, but if I had to consider having egg sandwich. I didn’t get any chicken and Rudra found one or two pieces of chicken. This is accompanied with French fries. The fries were done nicely but the sandwich sadly lacked the flavour of chicken, since it is was a chicken sandwich.

My Cousin's Place | Review | Bangalore

It has been quite some time that we have been eyeing a place in electronic city, but somehow we were not able to go there. Now that it is Christmas and New Year time, we broke the shackles and finally crashed there!

It is located in Velankani drive and it is quite a small joint with a very cosy ambiance. It also has a live kitchen, so they are very transparent in their approach. Now it is time to reveal the name—My Cousin’s Place.

Mrs.Magpie Cafe | Kolkata | Review

Mrs.Magpie Cafe | Kolkata | Review

If someone asks me to chose between chain cafes’ and  quaint , local cafes , I would always and I mean always pick the local cafes because I personally, am not a very big fan of the same taste of coffee plus I like to see what each of these places have to offer!

One such special cafes of Kolkata are the Mrs. Magpie café! And they specialize in beautiful cupcakes.

They have “bite size” cupcakes and normal sized cupcakes, but the bite size cupcakes are too cute to resist and they have so many flavors that everyone would have something of their choice.

Flury's | Park street | Kolkata

If you know about Kolkata’s Park Street then there is one place you would know about for sure, Flury’s .
A tea room that has been there since the time when Kolkata used to be the Capital of this country! It is a place which every Kolkata resident knows about and you’ve got to have some “Breakfast at Flury’s “ days. Oh no! , Not tiffany’s :P

Rubi's grill review | Kolkata | Diwali Special

There is a different kind of charm being in a cafe in your home town with old friends and loved ones, especially when the cafe serves grilled meaty delights.

These experiences can be relived again and again. The cafe under consideration is a cosy place with a musical ambiance and an outdoor seating arrangement. The name of the joint is Rubi’s Grill, located in Dover Lane in Gariahat, Kolkata.

Meeteaing Review | Electronic city | Bangalore

Meeteaing Review | Electronic city | Bangalore
Pancakes with chocolate spread and maple syrup +Meeteaing

Conventionally, it was known to most of us that there are coffee parlours, ice cream parlours and of course kebab joints and what not! But it is quite recent that tea joints/parlours came into the picture (except for the roadside ones of course :P).

Tea is one of the oldest and the most traditional household beverage which was forgotten until the advent of establishments solely dedicated to varieties of tea.
We found a place which is dedicated to serving tea quite a while back, but it was recently that we finally crashed in to try some great variety of tea. The name of the establishment is Meeteaing, and it is located in Neeladri nagar, Electronic city Phase 1.
