Soho St. Take two | Bangalore

Initially when we used to visit restaurants and like the food, the only thing we would do is maybe tell our friends and colleagues about our experience mainly as an ice breaker. This is one of the restaurants which made us change our thinking, after which we started talking about our experiences online through our blog.

The name of the restaurant is Soho St. And it is situated in BTM layout, Bangalore. The first time around, we really loved the ambiance and the shredded kebabs served as starters. It was quite a long time since we tried out their food and we decided to revisit!
The ambiance is still the same, depicting a street in London and this time around there was a few changes in the menu. The focus was upon Asian street food through their live counters.

The reception was warm and welcoming and with the dim lights all around it was a perfect place to crash in this hot Bangalore summer. The spread was enormous and we really had our hopes high!

The starters were enough to satisfy a snorlax! [That’s a Pokémon reference btw :P]

Mango Flavoured Mocktail

There was a chinese roasted chicken, chicken malai kebab, chilli chicken, paneer tikka, schezwan prawns, tandoori baby corn, salt and pepper fried mixed veggies, something like an aloo tikki, a fish preparation, tandoori gobi, chicken and veg momo’s and a few more. There was also a pasta counter and the Chinese stir fry counter.

We found all the starters to be extremely tasty and well prepared except for the momo preparations. Presentation wise they were pretty decent as well.

Undoubtedly we found the best starter to be the chicken malai kebab, which was brilliantly made. The chicken was soft and juicy, perfectly grilled and the richness of the malai could be sensed with each bite.

Wahrabia Festival @ Barbeque Nation | Bangalore

Wahrabia fest at Barbeque Nation
It must have occurred to all of us at one point of time that it is not only the food which fetches you points, but there is a lot more to it than that. Yesterday, we were at the Wahrabia festival at Barbeque Nation in Electronic city, Bangalore and there were certain things which proved why they are worthy of wearing the “King of BBQ” crown.

Their courteous staff, space management and the deliciously different festival menu deserve a lot of praise!  Moreover, the decoration which we thought was a theme based on The Arabian Nights and Aladdin was superbly implemented. On top of this, the soothing Arabic music which was being played is guaranteed to make your dining experience worth remembering and cherishing.

Sanctum Review | Residency Road | Bangalore

We visited a restaurant some time back and we really wanted to revisit. So, pretty recently we crashed there with a couple of other foodies for lunch and it was a very comforting experience.

A good variety of conversations (although 99% centred on food), great ambiance and wonderful people—the best mantra for a perfect time!

The name of the restaurant is Sanctum, located near the Chancery Pavilion hotel in Residency road, Bangalore. The food preparations were all simple, with a touch of elegance and sophistication. The restaurant has separate AC and non AC dining areas with elegant dim lighting and a big bar as well.

Absolute Barbeque Review | BTM Layout | Bangalore

It is not every day that we get an opportunity to dine out with a bunch of great food loving people. But we sure got a chance and it was because of the Food Bloggers Association of Bangalore (FBAB). We were invited to the 8th FBAB bloggers meet at Absolute Barbeque. This branch of AB’s is at BTM layout, Bangalore and it opened very recently.

Black Pearl Review | Koramangala | Bangalore

Black Pearl Review | Koramangala | Bangalore
The Black Pearl Entrance

Classic restaurants are always a favorite for every foodie, but just like someone needs a palate cleanse after eating the same kind of food again and again, classic settings need to be put aside and one should go for a themed restaurant. We were dining out at many locations, but even though there was a wow factor in the food the wow factor in the ambiance was missing. We were planning to go to The Black Pearl in Koramangala, Bangalore for quite some time but the plan was being delayed every time, until we got out hands on a groupon and we couldn’t control the urge anymore!

100ft BBQ Lounge Review || Koramangala

For young, working professionals every quarter end is an exciting time as there are project parties/team outings and a lot of fun without spending much from your own pocket.
Similarly, I had a gala time this week. A great team outing with a great team at a great place! What more could one ask for! The restaurant is part of a hotel, the De Oriell Boutique hotel situated in 100ft road, Koramangala in Bangalore nearby the famous Sony World signal crossing.

The entire day the entire team was very excited as we had an excuse for not working much and we preserved our hunger as we were going for a dinner buffet. This was one of the few times Priyanjana did not accompany me to some place I was going to eat.

Soho St. Review | Koramangala

Soho St. Review, Koramangala, Bangalore

Bangalore offered us a great climate from the very beginning but when it came to food the offering was even better!

We have tried out many fine dining restaurants, but one fine day I was in the mood to HOG (:P). I persuaded Priyanjana as well. The plan was to attack any restaurant which was offering a buffet. We had a light breakfast and we were on the hunt. With the help of our best friend Zomato, we discovered this place located just near to The Forum Mall in Koramangala. We enquired about the menu and it sounded pretty impressive.

Thus, we decided to go forward with our plan! We entered into the restaurant and the ambiance left us stupefied!
The space was huge and the tables were very well spaced and organised, topped with fine dim lighting and in the centre one can actually see the food being prepared!

The first 5 minutes was a big thumbs up! Next we were served and greeted by a very decent, well behaved and courteous waiter. After this we decided “Bring It On!!”

So, the feast started:

The opener was a mint mojito! The best we had had in a long time ! Every sip of it seemed to tickle our taste buds and increase our urge to gorge :P. Along with the mojito came the starters. The pictures give only an indication of how awesome they were but believe me, the taste was unparalleled!

There was the shredded chicken kebab, mutton kebab, prawn kebab and the fish kebab. All the four preparations were so tasty, that we actually lost count of how many times we asked them to serve! (They definitely thought they shouldn’t have allowed us in the first place ;)). The chicken and the mutton had a smoky flavour, whereas the prawns and the fish were a little sweet, thanks to honey I guess. But nonetheless, it rocked!

But wait, I forgot! There was more!—chicken Banjara kebab, fish tikka and chicken tengri kebabs!! Oh the joy, the bliss, the excitement and we behaved like absolute gluttons!

You think it is done?? Think again ;)
Prawn, Lamb and Chicken momo’s! The white one was prawn, the yellow one chicken and the red one was lamb! Even writing this down makes me want to go there again, seriously!

Now, the starters are almost done, just a couple more :D
This one is my favourite, but many might not like it—crab meat sushi! Along with this there were little bite sized chicken shawarma rolls, which we both didn’t like very much.

I wish I had 1 more mojito, but too much greed is bad right!

*There were 2 counters as well*-- Live pasta and Kolkata rolls counter! We customized our pasta, with loads of mushrooms, baby corn and black olives, but there was nothing special about it. You can get that anywhere! The Kolkata rolls had too much mustard in them and the taste was not good at all! I do not like wasting food, but I had to waste half of the roll.

Now, the main course and the desserts:  The main course included mutton rogan josh,  , chicken biriyani, and a preparation of fish. We did not have much on the main course, but we tasted everything and they were good but nothing special.

Desserts were like the starters: variety, colourful and tasty.

Gulab jamuns, Baskin and Robbins ice cream, caramel pudding, mixed fruit custard, brownies, fresh cut fruits, litchi pastry and pineapple pastry.

The gulab jamuns were fresh, soft and delicious. B&R ice cream is B&R ice cream :P. The pudding was equally good. It was smooth and without any lumps. The brownies were iced and with chocolate sauce and it was pure bliss of course! I had as many brownies as my age I guess :D. Finally, the pastries were good, but there is nothing special to mention about them.

Overall the best items were:
1)      The Momos
2)     Chicken Glass noodles soup ( I am not a big fan of soups but Priyanjana had around 4 bowls of soup with different types of bread)
3)      The kebab starters(all of them)
4)      The tengri kebab
5)      The Mojito
6)      The Sushi
7)      Mutton rogan josh and the fish main course
8)      Brownies, gulab jamuns and the pudding.

The experience was just amazing with all the lovely varieties of food, the cosy ambiance and the excellent grade of service. Summing up, We had a lot of buffets in the past—BarBQ nation, flame n grills and others, but SOHO ST, stands out because of the variety of dishes and the peculiar but mouth watering taste of its dishes.

Now time for the marks :-

Food - 4.5/5
Quantity - C'mon, it was a Buffet!
Ambiance - 4/5 ( They said they have live music, but they didn't )
Service - 5/5
Cleanliness - 5/5

Hope this review will inspire a true foodie :P! Cheers! And of course, Bon Apetit!
